OUR VISION
To provide a platform for all stakeholders, whether public or private sector, to influence security decisions at both the policy and business level.
ABOUT Us
The Commonwealth Security Group (CSG) was formed to encourage security cooperation and provide a platform for multi-stakeholder engagement in security issues across the Commonwealth. We leverage the Commonwealth's convening power to bring together diverse and innovative approaches to addressing security challenges throughout the association.
The Challenge
Human, environmental, political and economic threats cannot be seen in isolation. They are trans-border, inter-linked, and insoluble without international cooperation. At a time of increasing uncertainty, and ever greater global inter-connectivity, these multi-faceted security challenges demand an immediate and international response.
Through focused programmes, roundtable discussions, events, research and publications CSG seeks to drive this response.
Our Objectives
-
Provide a platform for multi-stakeholder dialogue on security challenges facing the Commonwealth and options for their solution.
-
Contribute to the ongoing security programme of the Commonwealth Secretariat and CHOGM; promoting the Commonwealth network as an engine for tackling global security challenges.
-
Highlight success stories in security from across the Commonwealth community, encouraging best practice.
-
Coordinate a network of specialists and a range of programmes focused on delivering practical security solutions in line with the values of the Commonwealth.
Underlying the foundation of the Commonwealth Security Group are the principles of the Commonwealth Charter on Peace and Security:
"International peace and security, sustainable economic growth and development, and the rule of law are essential to the progress and prosperity of all."
